Move over School of the Art Institute of Chicago, this offbeat arts school offers progressive and compelling courses in art and technology, design, film and video production, as well as more basic visual arts courses in drawing and painting. Calling itself a true "InterMEDIA Schoolhouse" the instructors who work in this one-room schoolhouse offers budding artists a real world art-making space, state of the art digital equipment and the chance to exhibit the work they create.
CAD was founded in 2003 by Mike Nourse, Nathan Pack, and Nat Soti, three emerging artists/teachers who have experience working in more "official" university settings. The trio continues to direct and manage CAD. They moved the outfit into the Pilsen's Chicago Arts District in 2005.
In summer of 2006 CAD put a pause on its class offerings, but continues to exhibit student and members' artwork during the 2nd Fridays program sponsored by the Chicago Arts District.
