Located in Bridgeport's Schwarz building, mn gallery was created in 2000 by Jim Molnar and Kuna Na. The two designed the studio space with convertibility in mind, encouraging the area's supply of eclectic artists to take advantage of the 20-foot by 25-foot space as they pleased.
Exhibitions at the mn gallery typically run in monthly cycles, with the preponderance of shows taking place during spring and fall. Past mn gallery exhibitions have included "Tendency to Pile," in which three artists represented mounds of earth and the deterioration of biological matter through pictures, photographs and paper. The March 2007 exhibit "Here and There" displayed the collaborative quilting efforts of third graders from Chicago's Libby Elementary and Wilmette's Central Elementary. And Judy Natal's "American Alphabet" pictorially explored the diversity that makes the US curiously beautiful.
The mn gallery sometimes expands its artistic intentions beyond just the visual, hosting opening receptions with poetry readings. Lectures and workshops are provided to the public as well.
