Editorial Review of Kincade's

If you have ventured into bars like Kendall's and Kelsey's in Lincoln Park and Casey Moran's in Wrigleyville, you might have noticed something they all have in common: loud music, a plethora of flat-screen TVs and enough food and drink specials to make a grown man cry. No, it's not a coincidence; these bars are all owned by the same folks. Kincade's, another Lincoln Park member of the family, offers an equally satisfying mix of blaring tunes, sports and solid grub and drinks.

Located a few steps away from the Armitage L stop, Kincade's feels like two bars in one. The large main room has high ceilings, tile floors and walls, as well as several antique chandeliers. High tables are placed by the front window and others run parallel to the bar along the wall. A smaller area in the back is an ideal space for Golden Tee and other arcade games. Your ears will notice the extreme noise level, not necessarily from the crowd of Lincoln Park regulars, but from the music. Don't even attempt a phone call in here because just talking with friends at your table is a tall order. But the mood changes in the adjacent room.

Walk through the doorway to escape to low ceilings and exposed brick. It's dimly lit, more intimate and easier on the ears. About a dozen tables and another full bar occupy the lower level checkered floor. It's crowded, but not cramped. And there are more TVs to keep tabs on the game. You can also access the cozy patio and beer garden. A few steps upstairs and you'll find a pool table, a smaller bar and even more seating.

Kincade's has free Wii on Tuesdays, $1 burgers on Mondays and $1 bottles on Wednesdays, when the place gets mighty crowded. It's also one of the few KU bars in the area.
