Located in Oak Brook's
Doubletree Hotel, Foxes Sports Bar and Grille is a place built for business travelers and local office workers, who you'll find stopping in for lunch regularly. It doubles as an evening hangout for out-of-towners looking to unwind after a long day of meetings. But with so many bar-and-grill-type restaurants in the area surrounding the Oakbrook Center mall, the average diner has little reason to stop off at Foxes. Parking in the hotel's garage is a bit of hassle and then you have to navigate through the lobby to find the homey little sports bar (the hotel is also home to
Anthony's Italian Chop House and the Atrium Cafe).
Foxes has a handful of TVs, a pool table, Golden Tee and a jukebox. Most of the tubes were tuned to sports when we visited, but one was fixed on CNBC for its business-minded clientele. A friendly barkeep will keep loners company by talking the economy, sports and other current events. The limited menu sticks to the basics with burgers, appetizers, pizzas and salads. But let's face it, Foxes isn't there for the food. It's there for conference-goers and business travelers to take the edge off with a few drinks. And to facilitate that, Foxes has a different beer ($3.50) and cocktail ($4) on special each day of the week.
