The happy hour gets a bit of an update at this Wicker Park sushi spot. Half-price maki rolls can be had for the after-work crowd, and on Friday nights, if that crowd sticks around long enough, they can watch Geisha transform from a restaurant to a nightclub.
Formerly known as Blu Coral, this spot on the lower end of Milwaukee near Division reopened as Geisha earlier this year. The owners, tired of watching their diners abandon them as the time approached the wee hours, decided they'd keep the party in house. Now, on Fridays and Saturdays after 10:30 p.m., Geisha becomes something of a dance club, complete with DJs, dancing, and secret passwords you can only find on the restaurants website.
This doesn't mean that they've neglected the food, though. There's still a full menu here, featuring a few interesting choices, most under $15. The Black Widow, for example, is a roll featuring seasoned blue crab, served over soft shell crab, cilantro, avocado, pickled onion, tomato and cream cheese topped with black tobiko. If that isn't sexy enough, there are rolls that incorporate fresh seasonal fruits, as well as Bacardi 151 and even mozzarella cheese.
Average cost: $10-$20
