Admit it. At one point in college you found yourself eating an order of General Tsao's chicken from your favorite Chinese take-out when a delivery pizza commercial came on your television, and you thought to yourself, "if only someone would combine Italian and Asian cuisine, my life would be perfect." Then you thought how much an egg roll resembles a canoli and wondered just what would it take to actually fuse eastern and western cooking.
The answer is balls. The kind of balls required to term that fusion "Italiasian" and serve it in a restaurant named "Italiasia." Yes, Italiasia may be one of the worst restaurant names I've heard in a long while, but the place actually serves good food.
Highlights from the best-of-both-worlds menu include beef carpaccio with arugula salad, caper berries, parmigiano-reggiano and soy wasabi vinaigrette and the hoisin chicken pizza. Some of the chicken dishes were a little dry, but with so many options (all very reasonably priced), it's near impossible to get stuck with a dish you hate. Plus, the highly accommodating staff is happy to make recommendations or changes if need be.
Located on the 15th floor of the Apparel Center, Italiasia offers breathtaking views complimented by a modern decor. Turns out that half-baked idea you had one hazy afternoon in college wasn't half bad.
