Despite an overpriced menu (entrees and sandwiches can run anywhere from $8-$20) and a shortage of comfortable seating, this restaurant/pub offers many things that make it a great destination within the South Loop. Warm oak furnishings, beautiful landscape photographs and a hangover-inducing whiskey selection are only a few reasons a visit to Kitty's beats an expensive, lengthy flight to Dublin. Though it's located in the Casual Irish restaurant/bar located in the Hilton Chicago, it maintains authenticity by employing primarily Irish servers, who offer bit of Celtic hospitality in addition to charming accents.

In terms of food, you'll find a menu stacked with traditional Irish/English dishes, such as shepherd's pie, fish and chips, and a meaty lamb's stew. Surprisingly enough, the veggie burger coupled with Irish cheese is also really good, as is the chicken pot pie served with impeccably fresh vegetables.

And, of course, this place does not suffer from a lack of familiar appetizers. In fact, ordering potato skins or cheese sticks is practically required to prepare your digestive tract for a long night of heavy drinking. And if you're still coherent by 9:30 p.m. you can enjoy free live music every day but Sunday.
