Until recently, this spot (formerly My Place on Milwaukee) has remained a near-tribute to Avondale, its heavily Polish 'hood. But Metal Shaker offers something different. The mystery vodka section of old is being weeded out in favor of an original shot list (and a whole lot of PBR and whiskey), as the bar has morphed into one of Chicago's only all-heavy metal venues. There are small shows here on the weekends featuring several local, national and even international acts. During the week, there are several other heavy metal and harsh noise music related events involving several Northwest Chicago businesses and patrons. Okocim fans, you may have to re-evaluate your options.
