The scarcity of nightlife options, or even a good sports bar, around US Cellular Field stands in stark contrast to the Fraternity Row atmosphere that often surrounds Wrigley Field during Cubs games. Part of it is the neighborhood itself; Bridgeport residents won't tolerate drunken buffoonery. All the parking around the ballpark does no favors, either. But that doesn't mean that someone can't try to open a place that serves a cold draft and a good burger and try to get some people to hang after Sox games.
Such is the case with Rocky's. Housed in the former Punchinello's space on 31st and Wells, it's a short walk from the ballpark and a marked improvement over Punchinello's. Rocky's management has taken everything Punchinello's had — two bars, a back patio and a kitchen — and actually utilizes it. The draft beer selection doesn't go out on a limb, but the variety is a welcome relief.
The food still seems like a work in progress. Burgers are cooked medium well here and served on pretzel rolls. The menu is kind of like Kuma's Corner, only less so.
