Highland Park is home to some outstanding restaurants, but for a taste of Taylor Street, look no further than this younger member of the popular Rosebud Italian restaurant family. Sure, there's a cheerful staff and an extensive wine list, but the real draw is those favorite Rosebud eats.
With its beautiful bar, oh-so-lovely covered patio and coveted location in the heart of HP (not to mention the outrageously delish cuisine), it's no wonder this place is always packed. Its elegant dining room and family-friendly (but also date-worthy) feel can't hurt either.
Specialties of the house include the homemade pappardelle (square noodles), chicken vesuvio and linguini with clams. And you can't go wrong with neighborhood favorites like petit medallions, BBQ ribs or brick chicken, or any of the creative daily specials. For the most part, main dishes fall somewhere in the $18-$25 range; pastas cost around $15.
In true Rosebud fashion, most entrees are served up in generous, doggie-bag-required portions. For a perfectly indulgent experience, couple your meal with a side of meatballs, Italian sausage or baked mac and cheese. For lunch, nosh on sandwiches (all served open-faced with a side of pommes frites), salads, pastas and a few choice entrees. And let's not forget the irresistible dessert menu, which features tiramisu and profiteroles in family-size servings.
Average cost: $31+
