When it comes to golf, many Chicagoans are split into a few camps: those that like their golf in virtual Golden Tee form, those that prefer it mini, and those who like to pack a few drinks and head over to the public links on the lakefront. Still others head out to the suburbs to play their games on the big fairways. Hilton Chicago Indian Lakes Resort is one place in near western burbs where locals wed, tee off, and now with Shiraz on the Water, partake in fine dining on the resort grounds.
With nearly fully panoramic windows, Shiraz offers quite the view of the surrounding resort. The interior is worth looking at as well. Modern furniture and a domed ceiling make up the innermost portion of the restaurant, while the area near the windows is ringed with comfortable couches, low tables, and other relaxing chairs.
Those chairs may get even easier to sink into after a few cocktails from the full bar, or one of the more than 1,000 bottles of wine on offer. You’ll need it to wash down the appetizers, such as the king crab rolls ($13) or the monstrous 20-ounce Porterhouse ($40). Other entrees come in around the $20 mark, ensuring that Shiraz on the Water won't have your wallet taking a bath.
Average cost: $10-$20
