"Alternative Sports Bar" might sound like a contradiction in terms, but that is what the Tin Lizzie claims to be. In the heart of trendy Lincoln Park, this spot takes its name from the 1923 Model T Ford Touring car pictured on its sign. The Lizzie, as it is known by regulars, sports 4 satellite dishes, 14 monitors and two big-screen TVs, so you won't miss any college or professional games, especially those Michigan State or Red Wings games favored by much of the staff and clientele.
It also boasts 11 tap beers, 11 bottled beers and a full bar, in addition to unimaginative but tasty bar food like wings, sandwiches and pizza. Sunday through Thursday, drink and food specials bring in the crowds, especially during those pivotal March Madness or playoff games. Local bands play weeknights (as long as there's no big game) and Thursdays are Open Mic Night, with prized for "Who Sucked The Least!" A DJ spins Friday and Saturday night to the young twenty-something crowd that shows up without fail.
The wait staff charms the patrons out of any unpleasant rivalry tension and in good weather, the bar's two large garage doors open up to allow for a nice breeze and some easier people-watching on Clark Street.
