| Fusing today's contemporary pop and rock with a classic melodic vocal style, Not The Joneses have been playing around Chicago since 1993. Singer/songwriter Mark Chaffee had a plan to break down as many barriers as possible within the countless facets of the music industry, bringing music to the masses regardless of age, sex, color or creed (real good karma indeed). With these impressive goals, Mark soon convinced bassist Russell Bergum (who was replaced in the summer of 1997 by a bassist known simply as Freakboy) to leave the comfortable confines of his then current band and join him in this most noble task, using his Minneapolis punk background to complement Mark's melodic rock influences. In the summer of 1995, the duo added Dug Schoenbeck on guitar and Vince Consolo on drums. After plenty of playing around town, they released their self-titled debut in the spring of 1997. Check out their Web site. It's one of the finest for any Chicago band, with a graffiti board, a complete promo pack, merchandise and great graphics, among other features.
