| When Terry Callier retired from musical work (to support his family as a computer programmer) in the early 1980s, he was a moderately well-known jazzer. A decade later, though, after his deification by England's acid-jazz scene, he's back on the road, hybridizing folk, soul, and jazz in the "classic Callier" fashion, with his band Beyond (bassist Eric Hochberg, guitarist Dave Onderdonk, drummer Penn McGee, and saxophonist Rich Fudoli). You can hear a track by him on the compilation Chicago Rapid Transit/Grooves Circa 1999 (NoVo Arts).
