Sometimes you just want to hear some good rock, the kind that has you moving to the music because it's impossible to stand still, the kind that you want to listen to at full volume while driving with the windows rolled down. thirdleg can give you that kind of rock. thirdleg is modern rock, and good modern rock at that. Founded on the idea of eschewing electronica, power pop and cliche driven rock, thirdleg is a sort of carrier, bridging the painfully apparent gap between post-grunge and modern rock that has given rise to everything but good rock. With influences ranging from Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Led Zepplin and The Doors, thirdleg has come up with a refreshing combination of catchy, powerful, in-your-face wailing and somber musings, which, though unexpected, give thirdleg a distinctive spin. Case in point: the band's third independent release, Formula Demo/i>, starts out with the driving "Indirok" (which definitely sounds Sunny Day Real Estate-esque) then switches to an experimental/art-rock/spoken word-type sound on "Frontdoor," immediately followed by the more traditional "Backdoor."
The band has certainly played more than backdoor venues, however, with past performances at Chicago hot spots like Joe's, Cubby Bear, Thurston's and Waterloo Tavern.
