This clone of the Lincoln Park yuppie hotspot (that would be
John Barleycorn Sr.) sports almost identical decor (lots of wood, large TVs, successful 20- and 30-somethings tossing back large glasses of beer) with a few Wrigleyville twists (upstairs dancing on the weekend, altered hours during Cubs season). And, like the Barleycorn of old, the Clark street addition has proved a popular neighborhood gathering place.
The bar mixes grown-up frat-boy fun with refinery; in addition to its extensive beer selection, Barleycorn features a dignified wooden bar, plenty of tables and a bar food-type menu. On Thursdays, patrons can dance in the cavernous upstairs space for no cover. Weekends offer live music and DJs (cover varies based on entertainment).
Average cost: $10-$20
