Generally, R&B and Hunan steak aren't two things paired together, but come 10 p.m.—when upscale West Loop restaurant
Dragonfly Mandarin becomes Fly Bar—that's exactly what you'll get.
Those looking for a classy late-night dinner shouldn't worry; if you're not finished with your meal, the space is practically halved by a large staircase that overtakes the middle of the room, so you'll still be able to enjoy your honey walnut prawns when the staff begins clearing out most of the tables. Lingering diners generally sit toward the left of the staircase at white-clothed tables, while on the right, the mature bar patrons begin ordering drinks and swaying to the R&B and light hip hop tunes of the DJ.
Gold, black, red and cream hues warm the space, with light columns surrounding the bar and red and gold Chinese lanterns hanging above the dance area's black booths. The drink menu covers everything from beer to a bit of sake, but the mixologist in you will appreciate Fly Bar's signature cocktails. Try the Singapore Sling, a sweet mix of Tanqueray, sweet 'n sour and grenadine ($7), or the Red Dragonfly, a slightly fruity concoction of pomegranate liqueur, energy drink, cranberry juice and sprite ($10).
