Hydrate offers its patrons many perks, like a sleek, modern, neon-lit environment and an excellent sound system. Abundant seating, though, is not something you can look forward to here: there are about fifteen stools in the front ("blue") room, and one of them is for the door guy. The second ("red") room contains a few more spots for you to plunk down. But clearly, sitting around on your kiester is not what Hydrate means for you to do. This is a bar for dancing. Very well-known DJs spin every night of the week starting at 11 p.m.; the website will tell you who’s appearing when. Stop by on a Monday if you can, since it’s $1 Drink Night (though only well drinks are a dollar; if you ask for label vodka, for instance, expect to pay the usual). Other nights bring different drinks specials, like Sunday’s $4 cocktails and Wednesday’s half-price martinis. Before the DJs rev up, you’ll be subjected to insipid videos (and the music that accompanies them) playing on the small television screens surrounding the bar. At least the noise level won’t overwhelm, so you can use the early hours to trade gossip with friends. Or avoid the first shift entirely, make your appearance in the wee hours, and dance, dance, dance.
