Editorial Review of The Loft

Above Finn McCool's is a Gold Coast establishment that simply knows how to throw a party. Aptly named The Loft, it's where Rush/Division party goers come to relax, be with friends, drink and dance the night away.

Bright lights in a dark room and a large dance floor doesn't necessarily make the Loft stand out from other downtown clubs where patrons dress to impress and buy expensive cocktails. But the Loft has a different atmosphere, most likely given off by the party goers who seem much less pretentious compared to other late-night clubs. Though still good-looking and well-dressed, they know that when coming to a place called the Loft, it's a place to be welcoming and relaxing — another reason the dance floor is filled even in the early hours of a Thursday night.

Resembling the bar/club combination of Lion's Head Pub and The Apartment in Lincoln Park, downstairs of the Loft is an Irish pub where those looking to fill their stomachs can dine or just watch ESPN. It's a perfect pre-party location because once the party gets started, the Loft certainly knows how to host one.

The Loft offers party packages for those celebrating birthdays or just get-togethers. The "Partying 101 Package" gets you and 10 or more of your best friends a reserved party space and two hours of call cocktails, house wine and domestic beer for $30 a person. Or you can go premium and get a bigger choice of premium cocktails and drinks for $35.

But don’t think packages are the only way to get a good deal. The dollar drinks on Thursday nights is a rare find in the downtown club scene. With a tagline like "Good Friends. Cool Space. Hot Beats. Endless Cocktailing ... " the Loft knows how to put on a good time.
