The Cool Kids singlehandedly introduced the party-rap styles of the early '80s to a new generation of hip-hop fans, and their rise to the top has been nothing short of meteoric. The biggest question, however, has been whether or not they have what it takes to live up to their self-proclaimed role as "the new Beastie Boys." It's a prodigious title to live up to, and with no full-length in sight (When Fish Ride Bicycles is the supposed title) it appears The Cool Kids are in danger of falling into the afterthought category. This show at Reggie's will be their attempt to squash all grumblings, so expect them to come out in top form. Bun B (of UGK) and Chip The Ripper will open. (J. Min)
