Local MC David “Serengeti” Cohn has been a busy man as of late. Within the past year he’s released an EP (Kenny Dennis) a stellar collaboration with Sufjan Stevens and Son Lux (Beak and Claw) set the groundwork for a new full length (Classic American Rap), and toured around the world. Despite all that Geti is still hungry for more, and has been grinding as hard as ever to make it work. The depths of his raps are at times beyond the traditional scope of most MCs, which has made Geti’s road that much more difficult to navigate. He’s a phenomenal lyricist and a workhouse when it comes to output, and it’s that mentality that’s made him arguably the most beloved lyricist in Chicago. His set will be part of a mini-fest of sorts featuring Las Guitarras de Espana and The Sweats. If you can’t make it out Geti will be making the trek on over to the Whistler afterwards for another set. (J. Min)
