Date: May 3 & October 4, 2008
Cost: Free
Organizer: City of Chicago
What to expect: Kites, kids and, well...you can guess the rest.
Why to go: Relive your childhood, or at least let your children live theirs. They'll be able to create, decorate and fly kites.
Additional info: The May 3 event takes place at the Museum of Science & Industry, while the fall event happens at Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park. Free kite kits will be provided by the City of Chicago, though you're welcome to bring a favorite flying friend of your own. Afraid your kite won't go as high as the others? Kite-flying professionals and instructors will also be on hand to share their tips. The Kohl McCormick StoryBus will also be around for interactive storytelling and literacy arts and crafts activities.
