Perhaps it's silly to assume that a simple meatloaf could keep a place thriving, but Holzkopf's recipe is just that good. Each and every Thursday these butchers make fresh meaty loaves, ready to take home and pop in the oven—a saving grace for those who aren't so skilled in the kitchen. The loaves sell quickly, but if you stop by later in the week you might find one or two in the freezer, wedged among an assortment of stuffed pork chops, lamb shanks and boxes of hamburger patties.
Holzkopf's also makes its own sausage and will happily divulge their latest grilling tiops. In addition to the fleshy stuff, this market stocks a slew of "Perfect Pasta" from Addison, including spinach stuffed shells, pumpkin ravioli and veggie rotolo. A separate cooler makes room for bottled root beer and classic orange and cream sodas. Shelves lined with sauces, relishes, vinegars and spices provide cooking and grilling inspiration.
