Kramer's Health Foods actually smells like a health food store, probably due to the herbal, vitamin and sport supplements that line almost the entire south wall. Along with these products, organic beauty supplies, aromatherapeutic oils, books, tinctures and exercise tapes make up at least half of the store.

Travel to the rear for what is perhaps the Loop's only organic grocery store. Grab a pack of vegetarian Boca Burgers, organic tomato soup and hormone-free yogurt, and you've got a healthy meal for less than a sit-down Gold Coast lunch. Burning the midnight oil? Throw in organic peanut butter and low-calorie rice cakes to stash in your office refrigerator. For overnight travel or a quittin' time gym workout, pick up some Tom's of Maine organic toothpaste and deodorant.
