Montrose World Gym provides a diverse atmosphere and fitness climate for people looking for an efficient workout. Rows of elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, treadmills and trainers' offices hug a catwalk of a pathway on the first floor. Upstairs a studio opens for fitness classes and a running track sits behind it, with weight machines and dumbbell set up inside. Outside the track, in inconspicuous corners, you'll find a random bicycle here or a punching bag there. Though it's truly nothing flashy, the compartmentalized gym space has its perks: You'll rarely have to wait to use equipment.
Classes: Don't stress about scheduling your life around your favorite class here. The packed schedule means most classes are repeated on a daily basis. Tighten your buns before your morning cup of coffee at the daybreak spin class or join the happy hour cycling crew. Most gym rats will be familiar with the classes offered at World's Gym, but Sunday's Free Form Martial Arts, which combines several martial arts and focuses on basics and defending against attacks, is a little something the franchise kicks in to mix things up a bit.
Extras: When the weather permits, World's Gym opens its rooftop pool to members. Can't bake or open the pores while resting by the pool outside? The locker rooms have saunas, steam rooms and tanning beds to help turn up the heat after a tough workout. And if you don't want to walk a mile after a workout to get to your car, there's loads of free parking in the huge lot.
