Since most hotels are located on or around Michigan Avenue, it's often hard for tourists to get to know the neighborhoods of Chicago. Hotel Blake makes it possible to stay in one of the most historical, charming areas of the city: Printer's Row.
Formerly known as the Hyatt on Printer's Row, the property was renovated in 2005 and re-opened that spring as the Hotel Blake. Originally the home base for the Morton Salt Company, the building dates back to the late 19th century, when the area was home to the city's printing and publishing industry. The most recent rehab added the elegance and sophistication of a luxury hotel: the 162 guest rooms feature granite countertops, plasma TVs, deep red fabrics and dark woods. Six luxury suites offer 12-foot-tall windows. Every guest enjoys the benefit a 24-hour fitness center, 24-hour business center and complementary Internet.
In addition to great views of the city's architectural wonders—Board of Trade, Sears Tower and Chicago Public Library—the hotel lures the locals with its outstanding partner restaurant, Custom House, where James Beard award-winning chef Shawn McClain prepares modern steak and seafood dishes.
