| 1867 - 1936 An editor of Collier's Magazine, Finley Peter Dunne is best known for creating the long-running character Mr. Dooley the saloon-keeper. Through Mr. Dooley's heavy Irish brogue, Dunne expounded on contemporary issues in a style comparable to that of Will Rogers. Collections of Dunne's Mr. Dooley columns were published in book form.
