| Northwestern alum (CAS, 1983) long worked for the Arlington, VA Chamber of Commerce before releasing her first novel, Pears on a Willow Tree, a book following several generations of a sprawling Polish-American family. She's also written a second, A Year and a Day, about a girl in small-town Iowa whose mother has committed suicide.
