There are no upcoming events at Busker in the near future, please check back soon.
Operating out of an unassuming, wood-paneled front room of a former flower shop, Busker provides a meeting place for a generation that has mastered the art of communicating via emoticon and finds Wikipedia indispensable. A central node in a growing network of digital artists, Busker focuses on collaborative, technology-based projects and offers itself as a drop-in center for artists working in "new media."
Its fluid approach serves the artists involved well. Since moving Busker from Wicker Park to its current home in 2006, co-founders Tamas Kemenczy and Nicholas O'Brien have continued to expand their web of artists and activists. Among the projects underway are "Dai5ychain," a network of hacker-activists who are developing open source software, independent films and interactive video art projects, and "BLIT:SCREEN," an effort connecting electronic media makers and consumers. Producing everything on shoestring, the participating artists will happily utilize your used computers and peripherals for future projects. Look for events at Busker every couple of months, highlighting the best work of techies and multimedia artists with baffling names like "sK00L h0uS3 RoX."
