Reggie must have a lot of interests. This sports bar/music venue is just one part of a South Loop entertainment complex that also includes a larger all-ages live music venue (
Reggie's Rock Club) and a record store (Record Breakers). Altogether, the place finally gives the Wicker Park/Bucktown crowd a reason to head southeast, if only for a night.
Upon first entering Reggie's, you might be taken aback by the music club and sports bar kitsch, but you quickly succumb to its charms. State-of-the-art plasma screens take up wall space next to old album covers and sports team memorabilia, with a small stage for live music nightly, ranging from hip-hop to metal to indie rock. The brightly colored bathrooms are decorated with old 8-track tapes, and guests are encouraged to tag the walls with readily available chalk. Food and drink menus are listed inside the sleeves of album covers. Some of the creative menu items include Southern-style fried pickles and the Glick Chick, a chicken sandwich served on an onion roll with Muenster cheese, bacon and homemade barbecue sauce. You'll have your hands (and mouth) full with the beer selection at Reggie's, with 24 selections including Stella Artois and Anchor Steam.
