| Currently a member of The Sea and Cake (and ex of The Coctails), he now has several solo records out on Carrot Top Records (vinyl on Hi*Ball). The most recent is entitled Three. White Sky features guest appearances by Susan Voelz, Edith Frost, Mark Greenberg, drummer Steve Goulding (Waco Brothers), Poi Dog Pondering's Dave Max Crawford (trumpet), amongst others. Chicago Reader critic Monica Kendrick calls it a "quantum leap" in songwriting ability. In the Sun also includes much the same cast, with Goulding, violist Darcy Vaughn, two other ex-Coctailers Mark Greenberg and John Upchurch, and pianist Chris Ware pitching in. Prewitt was raised in Frankfort, Kentucky. He went to art school in Kansas City, where he founded The Coctails (who subsequently moved to Chicago) with three fellow students. Archer is a regular illustrator for the Chicago Reader and various periodicals. He has been included in the most recent McSweeney's comic collection, edited by Chris Ware, and is part of the traveling comics show, "Raw, Boiled and Cooked". Prewitt has had two gallery exhibitions of his original drawings and prints in the last year, and has a two-man show opening in Chicago this November with poster artist Jay Ryan. Archer Prewitt's well-crafted and self-produced songs will stand the test of time. Wilderness is an album that gains appreciation with repeated listening.
