| Founder of the infamous (according to some) mid-70s Cleveland-based art punk group the Electric Eels and founder of Crab Pot Records, Wicker Park resident Brian McMahon now plays infrequently around Chicago. Some journalists characterize the Electric Eels as punk before there was punk. Eels tunes continue to be reissued (by Overground UK), unearthed and dusted off (Scat ) and covered (Pagans, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments). McMahon has played on WNUR and WHPK, and his current group goes by the moniker Gravity Hertz, but this changes by the hour... CMJ called his debut solo release 17 Volts "One of the Top Ten Albums of the Year." He recently released a vinyl-only follow-up, An Inch Equals a Thousand Miles. He also released an EP, Yeah, accompanies by "The Kitchen Ants." For more information, visit their website: http://www.electriceels.com
