CINCO

CINCO CINCO is a brass quintet dedicated to the promotion of chamber music through performance, music education and the commissioning of new and collaborative works.

Founded in 1998 at Northwestern University, CINCO’s members hold degrees from Northwestern University, Rice University, the San Francisco Conservatory and Roosevelt University. As active participants in summer festivals and competitions, the group has received fellowships to the Aspen Music Festival (2002) and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (2000, 2001). They have also been semi-finalists in the Fischoff, Carmel and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions.

In the Fall of 2003, after spending two years performing in the Houston area, CINCO relocated to Chicago and subsequently became the first ensemble to participate in the Chicago Chamber Musicians’ (CCM) Professional Development Pilot Program. This residency has partnered CINCO with members of CCM on several subscription concerts as well as on live radio broadcasts on WFMT (98.7). In addition to these honors, CINCO has performed over 45 outreach concerts as part of CCM’s Allegro II Series and School Residency Program.

Currently CINCO is in residence with St. James Cathedral and is planning a multi-year residency with the Jane Adams Hull House through CMA’s Residency Partnership Program.

CINCO is:
Mike Sapienza, trumpet
Ryan Barwise, trumpet
Anna Mayne, horn
Brian Risinger, trombone
