| Saxophonist, harmonium player and electronic artist Charles Gorczynski is a collaborative musician that is known for partaking in stylistic hybrids. Two of his main vehicles, Colorlist and Silences Sumire, combine elements of jazz with classical music, ambient electronica and glitch hop. He is a member of Leaves, an atmospheric, improvisational jazz quartet, and is an occasional piece of the Tomorrow Music Orchestra, an ambitious ensemble that utilizes the services of up to 25 musicians and fuses jazz with marching-band riffs, classical music and experimental parts. Gorczynski also occasionally performs in improvisational duos with members of Chicago’s jazz scene, and he has enlisted recording contributions from some of those individuals as well as members of indie-rock bands. For Colorlist, he and drummer Charles Rumback have collaborated with Matt Lux (Isotope 217, Iron and Wine), Josh Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv), Ellen O'Hayer (Bright Eyes), Jason Ajemian (Chicago Underground Trio) and Jason Stein (Locksmith Isidore). Gorczynski is involved in a number of independent releases, including Silences Sumire albums on Ropeadope Digital and Ears & Eyes Records as well as Colorlist albums on Belgium’s Off Records, a side label of Stilll Label.
