Popular Lounge-jazz influenced group played their last show new year's eve (12/31/95). Albums included Peel and their final studio album The Coctails, a Carrot Top Records release which has sold over 10,000 copies. They did, however, contribute a track -- Peel (Acme Version) -- to the Doorika Theatre's standout compilation Dig This (Sweet Pea Records).
Members included Archer Prewitt (also of The Sea And Cake), Mark Greenberg (Log Letters), John Upchurch, and N. Barry Phipps, who got together in Kansas City (where Prewitt was attending art school), and then relocated to Chicago. Albums featured guests such as Max Crawford (Poi Dog Pondering), Hal Russell and Ken Vandermark.
The Coctails reunited one time since their last show in 1995. Their actual last show was in 2000 at the Lounge Ax in Chicago. They reunited for the venerable venue's closing show.
