Like every decent rock band Continued Education has gone through multiple name changes to try and touch a nerve with local audiences. The entire cast of the band, formerly known as Phase .27, was agreeable to the new name when Jason Jones (guitar and vocals) came to terms with his inevitable graduation from Northwestern University in 1999. Continued Education has always been on the hazy fringes of multiple musical genres. Jones' smooth vocal quality has lent the band to a quasi-punk-funk-laden sound. Their other influences are as diverse as Radiohead and Led Zeppelin. Pete Jablonowski (bass and vocals) is the true talent behind the band, a student of one of the finest jazz bassists in the country. Micah Arnold (drums) is one of the most highly-touted young drummers in Northwestern's vast musical network. Uday Sehgal plays guitar and completes the essential chemistry of the band.
Though the band plays infrequently, their popularity among Chicago's college crowds always makes for large audiences at all of their shows. Continued Education has opened for Rusted Root and can be seen at the Morseland Music Room on various occasions.
