Cracklin Moth was formerly known as "REDDBIRD" and is a Chicago-based band. Together for over 3 years they have been frequent performers at Chicago venues such as The Hideout, Schubas, Martyrs, and The Double Door.
In 2006 Cracklin Moth self-released a 5-song EP "Reddbird". The EP has been compared to early WILCO and Jayhawk music yet it contains darker more transcendental songs such as "Talking to the Dark" and "Badlands".
Band Members include: Matt Ammerman (vocals & guitar), Rocco Labriola (lead guitar & pedal steel), Shawn Rios (drums), and P. Griffin (bass).
Matt Ammmerman, who writes the songs for the band, has been heavily influenced by previous years in Kentucky and visits to India. The mixture of southern Kentucky culture, the severe contrasts of India and urban life in Chicago bring forth a unique musical/lyrical combination to the band's recorded and live music.
In March of 2007 the band released an en EP entitled "My Heart Is Leaking".
