| Local trio recently released their first record, a 3-song 12-inch on Thrill Jockey, Chapter and Verse. "Thanks to mixers Casey Rice and John McEntire," says Chicago Reader critic Monica Kendrick, "the recordings are somewhat trippier (dubbier?) than the live show, which over the past year has nonetheless spun heads and shaken booties (including [Damon] Locks's own -- his onstage boogie outbursts are a crowd pleaser) in increasing numbers. Members include two former members of Trenchmouth -- Wayne Montana (bass, melodica, keyboards) and Locks (vocals, keyboards) -- and Dan Fliegel (recently of Tom Ze's group) on drums.
