Chicago vocalist, trumpet player and composer Jeannie Tanner has released a wonderful new c.d. Those That Lie in Between. “Her music is sexy and well-written; her voice is beautiful and pure; and her trumpet stylings are smooth and melodic. Her star is definitely on the rise…” Joseph Campo, Film Director / Reconstellation (L.A.)September, 2005
The c.d. is kind of a mix of Norah Jones and Sade, but Ms. Tanner also plays trumpet. She wrote all of the music and performed all of the vocals, as well. The c.d. cover is a nude abstract of three women (photo taken specifically for this c.d. by Robert J. Kelly, world renowned artist). And, Darwin Records has submitted Those That Lie in Between for Grammy consideration (1st round).
The c.d. features some of the most talented musicians from Chicago, including Matt Walker on drums (Matt has his own band, Cupcakes, and is currently touring with Billy Corgan – he was on David Letterman, Leno, etc. over the past few months promoting Billy’s new c.d.); Brett Simons on bass (touring with Liz Phair – has toured recently w/ Jennifer Love Hewitt and Shakira); Ryan Cohan on piano (signed to an NYC jazz label and arranges for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s jazz ensemble; he has also written music for Ramsey Lewis’ last 2 c.d.s); Lisa McQueen on piano (currently the Music Director for Second City’s show at the Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier); as well as many other great players.
Ms. Tanner is a member of ASCAP, NARAS and is represented by Michael Toorock in NYC. Her last c.d. Out of the Blue (more smooth jazz/instrumental) has been used for the past 3 years on the PBS cooking show Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert. And, Tanner has recently completed the music score for the L.A. produced movie short Reconstellation, which has been entered into the Sundance Film Festival. She also sings the National Anthem for the Chicago White Sox, Cubs and Bulls.
