Half of the improv duo The Ken & Jim Show, has a background of jazz and chamber music performance and composition, and college-level teaching. He plays a variety of saxophones, as well as the alto flute, often through a space echo tape loop or guitar effects processors, to create complex tapestries of sound. He's also a member of Split Decision (an original music trio for saxophone, with drummer Jeff Stitely, and a rotation of bassists -- Kelly Sill, Larry Kohut, and Larry Grey -- on bass), and Total Eclipse.
You can hear him on many recordings, including Deanna Witkowski - Having to Ask; Kelly Brand Sextet - A Dream in a Stone; George McRae - Lime Jello; Lisa Lauren - My Own Twist, What Comes Around; Chicago Jazz Ensemble - Kenton a la Russo; Ensemble 9 - Children of the Night; Revolution Ensemble - Kabbalha Blues/Quantum Funk; Ryan Cohen - Real World; John McLean - Easy Go...; The Ken and Jim Show - Games Show Soldiers, Memory Fluid; Big Roy - Full Service, Big Roy; City Lights Orchestra - Words & Music; Fred Simon - Open Book; and Ken Haebich - Numbers.
