| Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, saxophonist Keefe Jackson relocated in 2001 and has since become one of the Chicago’s most prolific musicians—working with nearly every prominent artist in the city’s vibrant free-jazz scene. He leads a pair of groups—the modestly sized Keefe Jackson’s Fast Citizens and the larger Keefe Jackson’s Project Project—and his running groups include the Lucky 7s, Chicago Luzern Exchange, the 774th Street Quartet and the Festival Quartet. Jackson’s styles range from subdued swing to freeform wildness, but the musicianship is always tight and often includes co-conspirators Josh Berman, Anton Hatwich, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Aram Shelton, Frank Rosaly, Jeb Bishop, Nick Broste, Marc Unternaehrer, Dave Rempish, Jason Stein and Guillermo Gregorio. The most recent albums by the Fast Citizens (Ready Everyday) and the Project Project (Just Like This) were released on Delmark Records in 2006 and 2007.
