Last Of The Showmen is not your typical pop band. Sure they may have the camera-ready good looks, the musical chops and the great sounding recordings you would expect from a group with such a serious desire to be a great American rock band. But there is something else there, something deeper, a twist behind each lyrical curve and the numerous surprise hooks in each of their songs that let you know there is much more under the surface. These are things that keep you coming back for more after each listen, intent on catching each and every part of the hook-laden songs as they steamroll past you with a gale force.
Playing to packed rooms around Chicago, the band has built a following that pushes the parameters of the usual fans, groupies, gropers and bystanders that you will usually see at a local band's showcase. The band goes way beyond the packaging, touching something deeper in the fans that religiously follow them from club to club. Check it out, the band rocks.
As with any song driven band, the proof is in the material. For all the things that have and will be written about the band, the most important part still remains those memorable songs. They come from all angles and don't let you down. The harmonies are rock solid, the playing is crisp and the focus is clear. If you don't have the songs, you don't have anything. Last Of The Showmen has the songs. Tape doesn't lie.
