Improvising trio has been playing together, quite irregularly since 1982, since the heyday of Chicago's AACM- & performance-art-inspired creative music scene. Members include Daniel Scanlan (electric guitar, violin and cornet), Michael Zerang (on a huge drum set), and Don Meckley on a slew of invented instruments (my favorite is a interactive shortwave radio which he calls a "radiotar" -- as in radio & guitar).
As it takes -- literally -- days for the Munimula to set up for a gig, opportunities to see them have, sadly, become infrequent. If you want to hear them, check out the 1988 vinyl-only release The Jonah Syndrome.
