| Chicago blues guitarist whose long and varied career began as a rock star in Louisiana and Texas in the late '50s, playing with cajun master Clifton Chenier and then Sam Cooke (with whose family he lived). Later he backed singers and strippers in Chicago's Avenue Lounge. Eventually, though, he joined Alligator Records and became an international blues star... He and his son Ronnie Baker Brooks (also a guitarist) played a set together at the 1996 Blues Festival. His Alligator releases include Bayou Lightning, Turn on the Night, Hot Shot, Wound Up Tight, and Satisfaction Guaranteed. Every once in awhile you can catch him visiting Evanston's Flynn Guitars.
