Lovie Lee

Chicago boogie-woogie bluesman who played off-and-on with Muddy Waters died on May 29, 1997. After starting his career playing the piano in Mississippi juke joints, he moved to Chicago in 1957 and -- though he never achieved the acclaim of fellow blues pianists and Waters' alums Otis Spann and Pinetop Perkins -- His big, deep voice was a mainstay in Chicago blues clubs for many, many years.

Check out his 1994 CD Good Candy (Earwig Records) which also features Eddie Taylor, Vance Kelly, Lurrie Bell and Carey Bell (his godson).
