| Formerly known as Swimmer (Madonna's Maverick Records bought the old name because they had a signed band with the trademark, helping the group pay for the new recording!), MVP recently released their second CD, Frequency Gel. WXRT's Richard Milne called the first disc, Welcome to My Whirld (1998) "The best debut chicago and one of my top 5 cd's of the year." Co-founder and drumer Steve Gillis is currently on tour with Filter, but the group lives on, playing at The Note every Thursday, and a Double Door Sunday gig is apparently in the works.
