Mos Funnel

Elegantly synergizing funk, blues and rock n' roll, Mos Funnel brings floor-stompin' electricity to the songs of Joe Corrado, whose raw vocals never fail to turn every head in the room. Fusing funky baselines - guaranteed to make a crowd sweat and the most reserved heel stomp - with new directions of rock n'roll, Mos Funnel makes a high society hothouse out of any room. Bring your fedora...

Corrado toured the pacific northwest during 2001-2002 as the writer and frontman for Punchtrunk, promoting their 2001 album "12th and Johnson." During this time, he also spent time at the estate of the legendary Hoyt Axton, writing and showcasing new material. In 2003, Corrado returned to Chicago to explore new musical directions in his old city.

He then joined forces with Dan Huber and Ed Cullerton to form Mos Funnel. Dan is a professional bassist with a self-designed music degree from Ohio University who sets himself apart by playing upright electric bass with reckless abandon, and Ed was trained on the drums by master percussionist Jim Streich. Punchtruck alumnus, folk artist and veteran of the northwest music scene Justin Ringsak was brought in to add trumpet, electric bass, mandolin, and guitar textures to supplement the deep Mos Funnel sound.

Exploring the funk that Led Zepplin started cookin'... James Brown with a white daddy... Johnny Cash with a black mama... and always a soulful good time. Mos Funnel has played around Chicago at venues like Uncommon Ground and the Beat Kitchen, and the band is currently recording a full-length album.
