| My Anthem came about in early 2004 and features Billy Thompson on guitar and vocals, who has performed on over 12 albums either in or since his final days in seminal Chicago punk band Apocalypse Hoboken. Styled in the vain of 80s/90s UK and American based indie/punk. The band's sound is a wash of guitars, doubled vocals, booming bass and live drums. Drawing off there influences of bands like: the Psychedelic Furs, PIL, Swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine, Ned's Atomic Dustbin and the Rites of Spring. The band is offering up a new twist on the old style of Indie/Punk music.
Tired of the constant battles of a professional studio world, they opted to build a studio in Billy basement. Taking the skills taught to him by engineer and Chicago punk godfather Chuck Uchida, he took the time to finally get a sound he always dreamed of. For the "Welcome to This Side of Me" CD the sound was rounded off with the incredible rhythm section of the recently departed Brian Mahan (Joy Tree) on bass and Matt Severing new to the punk/Indie world on drums.
A new chapter is the foundation for their second CD "The Everything, Nothing and All That's in Between" starts to take hold. This will be a long distance recording project as the cd will be recorded in their home studios in Rockford and Topeka. The new cd will have more of the same great catchy pop, indie hooks with tons of guitars and drowny vocal stylings. With the addition of Paul Washa on the bass guitar, the band will have a more massive bottom end. Paul is a welcome addition to the anthem family. The new project should be completed around the summer of 2007. For more information, visit their website: http://www.myanthemband.com
