| Punsapaya (pronounced: poon-suh-pie-yah) is Chicago's premier rock band who just took home the Chicago Music Award: Rock Album of the year for their debut effort, "Prepare To Qualify", on Sideways 8 Records. Combined with clearly classic studio work, Punsapaya's live show slumbers any doubt that they are the epitome of rock and roll. Recently Punsapaya has been featured on Chicago media’s Nine FM (92.5, 92.7, 99.9) where their single New Life was added to the official playlist, WXRT 93.1fm local anesthetic show, The WGN morning show, ABC 7, NBC 5, and FOX news. Punsapaya has shared the stage with such acts as: Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, The Wailers, Rachel Yamagata, Victor Wooten, Bernie Worrell, Fishbone, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and Jennifer Hartswick; on such stages as: The House of Blues, The Metro, Park West, The Double Door, several others, and a slew of incredible festivals all over the country. At an average age of 25, Punsapaya's youth, experience, and grassroots buzz has led to a rapidly growing fanbase of many demographics. With their songs, stage presence, and style, Punsapaya is on the horizon of something larger than themselves.
