| Rollover got its big break with an attack of singles on XRT back in the early '90s ("Shipwreck," "Burning Time"), songs that follow a pop-blues mode similar to the Counting Crows. Sure, there are some noodly Grateful Dead moments, even some '80s power-ballad tones, but they're always saved by a super-clean, sugary hook. That's thanks to the band's songwriter and vocalist, Louie Zagoras, who has a love affair with the upper registers of his guitar amp.
Around '93, inspired by the radio play and strong attendance at shows, Bill Graham Management (Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Neville Brothers) signed the band to its roster, and secured opening tour slots with heavy hitters like The Allman Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Blues Traveler and Joe Satriani.
Rollover has dropped three records to date: 1993's self-titled debut, '97's Hold On Til' You Drop and 2003's No Place Like Home. Its present-day incarnation includes Bob Remington (guitar), Peter Mahlmeister (keyboards), percussionists Dave Plante and Bob Wagner, Doug Falls (bass) and founding leader, Louie Zagoras.
